| About Us Buckhannon Upshur Camera Club MEETINGS The BUCC is located in beautiful Buckhannon, West Virginia. Dues are kept low to encourage more folks to join us. The club's objective is to promote and improve amateur photography within Upshur county and the surrounding areas. The Buckhannon Upshur Camera Club meets on the 4th Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm at the Upshur County Senior Center on Senior Drive in Buckhannon, WV. You do not have to be a senior to join. There will be two exceptions to the 4th Thursday dates. In November, the meeting will be on Wednesday, November 16 and there will be a Christmas party on December 14th in lieu of a December club meeting.
If more than one person in an immediate family is an active member (parents or children of a member) of BUCC, a family membership is available for $15.00 a year. Dues for youth under 19 just $5.00 a year.
The BUCC has a presentation or program at each meeting highlighting some aspect of photography. Topics range from how to take a better picture to working in the digital darkroom. Members sometimes participate in a themed monthly photo contest or critique photos. Recent themes have included “Sunsets”, “Architecture”, “Straight Lines”, “Night Shots” and "Water".
Members also participate in various outings throughout the year. Some of those have included a trip to a flower shop to photograph close ups of flower arrangements, a walk down main street to photograph buildings, and a studio photo shoot. In July 2011, we went to Blackwater Falls and in October 2010, we traveled to Coopers Rock SP for a fall color shoot. Our 2007 trip was to Cranberry Glades in Pocahontas County, West Virginia. In June 2008, several of us visited the Wine & Cheese Festival at Stonewall Jackson Lake, and in October we went to the Three Rivers Avian Center.
